We are pleased to report that our very first test and practice day held at Cadwell Park on 24th March – exactly one month before the first round – went exceptionally well. We appreciate the feedback we’ve had since the event and to hear that it was well received by those of who attended.
With support from Pirelli playing a significant part in enabling the day to take place, the free-to-enter event was organised for competitors who had already registered for this year’s championship, either for a full season or a single-round. Consequently, it provided a perfect opportunity for teams to shake down their cars before the real competition begins on 24th April.
It also offered newcomers to the championship the chance to find out more about Time Attack and importantly, provide drivers taking part in the first round the chance to familiarise themselves with Cadwell Park, which of all the UK circuits, is the one you want to know about before you drive it competitively for the first time.
With timed and non-timed sessions on offer and the circuit available throughout the day, there was plenty of track time for all. And, with sunshine in the morning and rain in the afternoon, the conditions were ideal for trying different set-ups.
As well as spending time on the track, teams and drivers heard what’s in store for the coming season at a lunchtime presentation. This included an overview of what’s planned for each event, an update on the supporting shows and a report on the media and PR activity that’s scheduled for the year ahead.
Representatives from Pirelli were in attendance all day to provide technical support and answer any questions. We’re pleased to report that competitors who tried the new controlled Trofeo R tyres for the first time said they were very impressed, which was great news to all.
Following its success, circumstances permitting, we hope to make the test and practice day an annual occasion, as it proved to be a great way to kick start the season.
